I’ve been shamed

I’ve been defamed

I’ve been scorned

Had my heart torn

I’ve been confused

I’ve been misused

I’ve fallen far

Had to heal my scar

I’ve sat and cried

Thought my dream died

I’ve felt unsure

I’ve felt insecure

I’ve searched for a place

To run my race

I’ve searched for love

From heaven above

And found God standing near

I’m still here

I’ve fallen to my knees

Didn’t know who to please

I didn’t know where to begin

Didn’t know I could win

I’ve had to travel far

To reach a star

I’ve gone through every day

Trying to find my way

I’ve gotten lost

Didn’t know how much it would cost

I’ve searched for purpose

Lying at the surface

I’ve been blind

While searching for peace of mind

I’ve searched my soul

For what would make me whole

I’ve wanted a hand to hold

Wanted my story to be told

I’ve had to learn lessons

That become heartfelt confessions

Before seeing God standing near

I’m still here
