We pray day after day

While trying to find our way

We long for a hand to hold

We wonder if our story will be told

We grapple with fear

Not knowing who’s near

We wonder what we’ll gain

Through heartache and pain

We wonder if God is real

While trying desperately to heal

We continue our journey

Assuming it’s for us only

Suddenly we see the light

That shines day and night

We get stronger

As our days get longer

We give a wink and nod

While waiting on God

We search for a word

That’s the best we’ve heard

We try to sit still

Then accept God’s will

We search our hearts

Then wonder where love starts

We search for affection

As well as protection

We try to make clear

What we hold dear

We wonder what’s in stone

We feel we’re all alone

We long for a place

Filled with mercy and grace

We try to smile

Even laugh a little while

We try to turn around

As we search for solid ground

We search the soul

For what will make it whole

We reflect on the past

While trying to make every moment last

We get stronger
