Places In The Heart

There is a thing called love

Which we find in heaven above

There is a thing called peace

Which our hearts won’t release

We gain a renewed strength

When we talk with God at length

In heaven we find a guide

Our pride we cannot have

On the ground below

We find what we already know

In a safe space

We learn how to run our race

We find our purpose

Lying at the surface

We learn to live

We learn to give

We see where blessings are granted

Seeds are planted

We learn to stand

As God holds our hand

We feel God’s power

Hour after hour

God reveals what’s in stone

He never leaves us alone

We hear His encouraging word

It’s the best we’ve heard

Every step we take

Is a memory we’ll make

We feel God’s affection

As well as protection

We face our naysayers

As we say our prayers

While holding what we treasure

Beyond all measure

Faith fills us to the core

Before God offers us more

It’s abundantly clear

We have nothing to fear

Cause we always start

With places in the heart

Eyes Full Of Tears

The eyes are full of tears

As the soul fills with fears

We face every day

Pondering how we’ll find our way

We wonder what we’ll find

As we long for peace of mind

We sit and look ahead

Hearts filled with dread

We pray for strength

As we talk to God at length

We wonder who we are

How we’ll heal every scar

Then search for peace

Our hearts won’t release

Before we let go

Of what we used to know

The eyes are full of tears

As we see what’s at stake

We wonder how much we can take

We search day and night

For a guiding light

We long for something pure

To feel safe and secure

We yearn to be free

See what’s truly meant to be

We search for a place

Filled with mercy and grace

We try to be strong

We wonder where we belong

We long for affection

As well as protection

We try to turn around

Then look at what we’ve found

Then give a little stare

As we learn how to care

Then things change

Nothing seems strange

As God removes our fears

And wipes the eyes full of tears

The Morning After

The morning after

Was filled with joy and laughter

We reflected on the blessings granted

All the seeds we planted

How we began to stand

As we held God’s hand

The purpose we found

Our solid ground

What we know is real

Too difficult to conceal

What we hold dear

How God held us near

The divine purpose

That rose to the surface

And how we gained strength

When talking to God at length

The morning after

Was filled with joy and laughter

We reflected on our days

God’s loving ways

What’s set in stone

Why God never leaves us alone

When we opened our eyes

To a wonderful surprise

The encouraging word

We’ve always heard

The unconditional love

That comes from heaven above

The moments we shared

The dreams we dared

Things God can do

How He carried us through

The wide smile

That lasted awhile

God’s everlasting affection

His consistent protection

All the lessons

That became heartfelt confessions

How we searched our hearts

Where everything starts

The treasure we hold

The stories we’ve told

And all the joy and laughter

The comes the morning after

I Used To Love Him

I used to love him so

The world needs to know

I held him close

Cause He mattered most

I hung on every word

Like it was all I heard

I supported every dream

Strange though it may seem

I lifted him up

I filled his cup

I held his heart in my hand

While learning to stand

I offered him peace

I knew he wouldn’t release

I filled his soul

With what makes it whole

I used to love him so

Everyone should know

I shared his journey

Cause he was for me only

I kept him strong

Whether he was right or wrong

I gave him a place

Filled with mercy and grace

I took him far

Without leaving a scar

I turned him around

Put him on solid ground

I filled his days

With my loving ways

I showed him his purpose

As it rose to the surface

I taught him how to live

I taught him how to give

I taught him how to love

Just like heaven above

I gave him a smile

That lasted awhile

I gave him the seeds

That lead to good deeds

So everyone should know

I used to love him so

I Remember

I remember the day

Love came my way

I remember every touch

That meant so much

I remember the place

Where I ran my race

I remember planting seeds

That lead to good deeds

I remember the purpose

I saw lying at the surface

I remember every encouraging word

My eager ears heard

I remember filling my soul

With what makes it whole

I remember letting go of dread

While looking straight ahead

I remember God lifting me up

Then filling my cup

I remember what became clear

What I held dear

I remember learning to stand

While holding God’s hand

I remember feeling something real

Too difficult to conceal

I remember being filled to the core

Before God gave me more

I remember having something to hold

My story being told

I remember feeling God’s affection

As well as protection

I remember gaining strength

While talking to God as length

I remember letting go of doubt

As God worked things out

I remember lifting my voice

Then beginning to rejoice

I remember embracing a journey

Meant for me only

I remember learning from the past

While making every moment last

I remember

Rebirth

Changing every day

Trying to find a way

Planting the seeds

That lead to good deeds

Starting a new journey

Meant for the soul only

Wondering what we’ll find

Longing for peace of mind

Knowing God is there

With tender loving care

Learning while on the go

Sharing what we know

Finding a thing called purpose

Lying at the surface

Forging ahead

Without an ounce of dread

Ignoring naysayers

As we say our prayers

Building all our dreams

Until we burst at the seams

Listening to an encouraging word

That’s the best we’ve heard

Feeling a smile on the face

Knowing we’re in a safe place

Our will getting stronger

As our days get longer

Falling and rising again

Knowing we will eventually win

Realizing what we treasure

Beyond all measure

Learning to stand

As we hold God’s hand

Following our guide

Feeling something we can’t hide

Knowing what we can take

Seeing the memories we can make

Feeling a touch

That means so much

Giving as good as we get

With very little regret

Learning new lessons

That become confessions

Knowing what we’re worth

Signals a rebirth
