We ponder which way to go
Cause that’s all we know
We reflect day and night
On what may seem right
We grapple with fear
Not knowing who’s always near
We wonder if we’ll last
As we deal with our past
We long for strength
While talking with God at length
We try to maintain our poise
Despite all the noise
We try to turn around
While searching for solid ground
We long for a place
Filled with mercy and grace
We long to see
What’s meant to be
Before we reach our prime
And God arrives in the nick of time
We long for a hand to hold
As our story is told
We long for affection
As well as protection
We long to live better
Embrace life to the letter
We continue to travel
While trying not to unravel
We wonder what we can take
With every step we make
We try to stand
While trying to take a hand
We wonder what’s in stone
We wonder if we’re alone
We search our hearts
Where everything starts
We long for something pure
To feel safe and secure
Before we reach our prime
And God arrives in the nick of time
