Sitting here alone

Nothing to call my own

I long to be free

See what’s meant to be

I say a silent prayer

Hoping God is there

I try to find my way

Then pray for a brighter day

I grapple with fear

Before I see God standing near

I continue my journey

Cause it’s meant for me only

As God teaches me to stand

While holding my hand

I change my view

As I see what God can do

I suddenly find peace

My heart won’t release

Faith helps me rise

Which isn’t a surprise

It took quite a while

But God taught me to smile

I finally hung on His word

One I’ve always heard

My naysayers filled me with doubt

They even counted me out

Before God turned me around

Put me on solid ground

I couldn’t see my purpose

Before God brought it to the surface

I suddenly got stronger

As my days got longer

Life got better

Cause I embraced it to the letter

Some tried to keep me still

But that wasn’t God’s will

I kept going

All while knowing

I could begin again

With faith I’d win

I see what’s by design

Why everything is fine

I’m out of the darkness
