In The Midst Of It All

I’ve had some dark days

Before changing my ways

I’ve grappled with fear

Before realizing who was near

I’ve searched for love

Before looking at heaven above

I’ve been shamed

I’ve been defamed

I’ve been scorned

Had my heart torn

I’ve been weak

And unable to speak

I’ve longed for purpose

Before seeing it at the surface

I’ve searched for a place

To run my race

I’ve gotten turned around

While searching for solid ground

I’ve longed for a word

That deserves to be heard

I’ve tried to smile

Even laugh a little while

But God answered my call

In the midst of it all

I’ve been unsure

Felt extremely insecure

I’ve fallen far

Had to heal every scar

I’ve searched for peace

My heart can’t release

I’ve grappled with doubt

That things would work out

I’ve been on a journey

Wondering if it’s for me only

I’ve wondered what to do

If I’d make it through

But God answered my call

In the midst of it all

Praise Going Up

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for all our days

All your loving ways

The beautiful home

Where our souls roam

The strength we gain

Through heartache and pain

How you’ve turned us around

Put us on solid ground

All the new dreams

That make us burst at the seams

Thank you for filling us to the core

Before offering us more

Every moment of pleasure

Beyond all measure

For what you’ve set in stone

For never leaving us alone

Helping us stand

As we hold your hand

For teaching us to smile

Even laugh a little while

For all the work you do

For simply carrying us through

All the seeds

That lead to good deeds

For your guidance and direction

As well as protection

Thank you for the victory dance

After our second chance

Everything we hold

The story being told

For removing our fear

For always being near

The amazing voice

That makes us rejoice

For being the light

That shines day and night

And filling every soul

With what makes it whole
