Holding You

I remember holding you

Seeing what you can do

Our love began to grow

More than anyone would know

We did a love dance

To celebrate our romance

We danced to the melody

We knew we were meant to be

We didn’t have a care

We had so much to share

God filled our core

Before He offered us more

We found our purpose

Lying at the surface

We danced on solid ground

We shared the joy we found

We danced in a place

Filled with mercy and grace

We found a home

Where our souls can roam

We cherished the blessing granted

We watered the seeds we planted

And we moved with no doubt

That God will work things out

I remember holding you

The moment was brand new

We enjoyed a moment of pleasure

Beyond all measure

We shared a smile

That traveled about a mile

We found something real

Something we can’t conceal

We filled every chapter

With joy and laughter

We saw what’s in stone

God never left us alone

We got a new name

As God removed our shame

We felt God’s power

Hour after hour

We hung on the word

We’ve always heard

We kept going

All while knowing

God set our path

Without unleashing His wrath

And I knew we’d make it through

As I was holding you
