Father

As I sat on my father’s knee

I saw what was meant to be

He taught me lessons

That have become confessions

He filled my soul

With what makes it whole

He provided the light

I follow day and night

He held me close

Told me what matters most

He gave me something pure

Made me feel safe and secure

He told me what God can do

How he brought us through

He taught me how to live

Taught me how to give

How to love

Just live heaven above

He offered me a guide

He filled me with pride

He spoke of God’s word

And other things He has heard

He spoke of a place

Filled with God’s grace

He provided a home

Where my soul could roam

He gave me affection

As well as protection

He taught me to smile

Even laugh a little while

He said every day

Should be filled with God’s way

He said every journey

Is meant for me only

He took me by the hand

Taught me how to stand

As we began to rejoice

With just one voice

It became clear

What I should hold dear

And I could see

What’s meant to be

While sitting on my father’s knee

Keeping The Faith

Facing every day

Accepting God’s way

Knowing what He can do

Seeing how He brought me through

Facing my naysayers

As I say my prayers

Letting Him ease my mind

Embracing what I find

Learning how to care

Knowing God is always there

Finding a place

Filled with mercy and grace

Learning to smile

Even laugh a little while

Hanging on God’s word

Cause it’s all I’ve heard

Taking one step at a time

While still in my prime

Counting every blessing

Without a lot of stressing

Seeing what’s in stone

Why God won’t leave me alone

Feeling His affection

Having His protection

Reaching my peak

Whenever I hear God speak

Finding solid ground

Sharing the joy I found

Holding my faith near

Knowing my purpose is clear

Carrying life lessons

That become heartfelt confessions

Opening my eyes

To a wonderful surprise

Letting go of shame

The world knowing my name

My heart getting stronger

As my days get longer

Starting a new chapter

With joy and laughter

Falling and rising again

Knowing with faith I can win

My heart filled to the core

Before God offers me more

Lifting my voice

As I learn to rejoice

Men

I watch men come and go

I listen to them share what they know

They have wisdom to spare

They say and do what they dare

They run their race

In about every place

They poke out their chest

As they prepare for their test

They reach their peak

As they listen to God speak

They fall and rise again

Cause faith helps them win

They face every day

They accept God’s way

They move without fear

Cause God almighty is near

They hold faith close

Cause faith matters most

And they count every blessing

Without stressing

I watch men come and go

I see the treasure they hold

I hear the stories being told

They go through the fire

To obtain what they desire

They stay strong

Whether they’re right or wrong

God offers them affection

As well as protection

They learn to stand

As they hold His hand

They follow His light

Both day and night

They embrace their journey

It’s meant for them only

They always smile

Even laugh a little while

And every day I live

I see how much they give

Men

In The Morning

A new day will arrive

Our souls will thrive

Love will come down

Faith will remove our frown

And we’ll find peace

We’ll never release

In the morning

We’ll embrace a new journey

Meant for us only

We’ll finally see

What’s meant to be

And life will get better

When we embrace it to the letter

In the morning

We’ll gain a renewed strength

When we talk with God at length

Our minds will rest

We’ll past every test

And we’ll see a place

Filled with God’s grace

In the morning

We’ll feel an affection

We’ll have protection

We’ll plant seeds

To very good deeds

And count every blessing

Without stressing

In the morning

We’ll find something real

We’ll know what to reveal

We’ll reach our peak

When we hear God speak

And we’ll share the dreams

That make us burst at the seams

In the morning

We’ll hold each other near

We’ll remove our fear

We’ll see what’s in stone

We’ll see we’re not alone

And we’ll learn to smile

Even laugh a little while

In the morning

We’ll travel far

As we reach for a star

We’ll learn as we go

We’ll share what we know

And we’ll find our purpose

Lying at the surface

In the morning
