A Talk With God

I had a talk with God one day

I learned to accept His way

We talked about dreams

Strange as it seems

We talked about my purpose

Before it rose to the surface

We took a journey

Meant just for me only

He gave me strength

As we talked at length

Suddenly He removed my fear

As He stood near

I enjoyed the moment of pleasure

Beyond all measure

We talked about life lessons learned

All the stripes I earned

We talked about unconditional love

That comes from heaven above

We discussed my naysayers

As I said my prayers

We talked about the victory dance

After my second chance

And how life is better

Now that I embrace it to the letter

I had a talk with God one day

He had a lot to say

He said faith is the key

To what’s meant to be

He guided me down a path

Without unleashing His wrath

It revealed what was mine

How everything was fine

He taught me how to survive

He taught me how to thrive

He taught me how to love

Just like heaven above

He became the light

I follow day and night

He said I’d stay on solid ground

Suggested I share the joy I found

He lifted me up

He filled my cup

He gave me more

Than I could ask for

When I had a talk with God

We share every day

As we accept God’s way

Faith makes us see

What’s meant to be

We build as we go

We share what we know

We gain strength

While talking with God at length

Our naysayers we ignore

As God fills our core

We go for long walks

We have long talks

We continue to bond

From here and beyond

We see what we hold

As our story is told

We hold each other close

Cause love matters most

We fall then rise again

Knowing faith helped us win

We feel brand new

When we see what God can do

We learn to stand

As we hold God’s hand

We rest at home

Where our souls can roam

We feel God’s power

Hour after hour

Our purpose is clear

We move without fear

We stand on principles

As God performs miracles

We see what’s in stone

Why God never leaves us alone

We travel far

As we heal every scar

We give as good as we get

With very little regret

We learn to smile

We laugh a little while

We survive every storm

We break every norm

We embrace the journey

Meant just for us only

Our gratitude we can’t hide
