I had a talk with God

Just to start my day

I learned to accept His way

He set my soul free

He revealed what’s meant to be

He gave me strength

As we talked at length

He helped me stand

As He took my hand

The moment was real

Too difficult to conceal

He removed all doubt

That He’d work things out

He gave me affection

As well as protection

He revealed my purpose

Before it rose to the surface

His encouraging word

Needed to be heard

He lifted me up

He filled my cup

And He filled my soul

With what makes it whole

I had a talk with God

It filled me to the core

Before God offered me more

He took me to a place

Filled with mercy and grace

He turned me around

Put me on solid ground

He gave me new life

Before removing the strife

The talk started a new chapter

Filled with joy and laughter

He became the light

I follow day and night

He gave me a voice

Then I began to rejoice

He set things in stone

Reminded me I’m not alone

He taught me lessons

That have become confessions

And I offered a wink and nod

After a talk with God
