I’ve faced some dark days

While trying to change my ways

I’ve felt ashamed

I’ve been defamed

I’ve faced some scorn

Had my heart torn

I’ve grappled with doubt

That things would work out

Until God revealed my purpose

Before it rose to the surface

I’ve grappled with fear

Until God held me near

I’ve gotten lost

Not knowing the cost

Until God turned me around

Put me on solid ground

I’ve felt weak

Until I heard God speak

I’ve fallen far

Before God healed every scar

I’ve wondered what’s for me

Then faith revealed what’s meant to be

I’ve searched for a place

Filled with mercy and grace

I’ve searched my heart

For a good place to start

Until God gave me a home

Where my soul can roam

I’ve looked ahead

While filled with dread

Until God set my path

Without unleashing His wrath

I’ve learned to smile

Even laugh a little while

I’ve felt alone

Before God set things in stone

I’ve learned to stand

While holding God’s hand

I’ve faced my naysayers

While saying my prayers

I’ve wondered what I’d find

Until God offered me peace of mind

I’ve learned to let go

Of what I used to know

I’ve learned to start again

Cause with faith I’ll win

Faith made me whole

God healed my soul
