I’ve faced some difficult days

While trying to change my ways

I’ve felt ashamed

I’ve been defamed

I’ve faced some scorn

Had my heart torn

I’ve gotten lost

Without knowing the cost

I’ve fallen far

Before God healed every scar

I’ve felt weak

Before I heard God speak

I’ve wondered what’s for me

What’s truly meant to be

Before my divine purpose

Rose to the surface

I’ve had my frown

Turned upside down

I’ve gotten turned around

Before finding solid ground

I’ve grappled with doubt

Before God worked things out

I’ve grappled with fear

Before God held me near

God opened my eyes

To a wonderful surprise

I’m coming out of the dark

I’ve felt weak

Before hearing God speak

I’ve searched for a place

Filled with mercy and grace

Before God gave me a home

Where my soul can roam

I’ve said a silent prayer

Wondered if God was there

Until God healed my soul

Then made me whole

I’ve wondered if this journey

Is meant for me only

Until God set my path

Without unleashing His wrath

I’ve looked straight ahead

While filled with dread

Before God filled the dreams

That make me burst at the seams

I’ve wondered what’s by design

If everything is fine

Until God filled my core

Before offering me more

He opened my eyes

To a wonderful surprise

I’m coming out of the dark
