The end of innocence

What I used to know

Something that had to go

I remember my younger years

I remember my young tears

I didn’t know I had to travel

Or whether everything would unravel

I got a surprise

I saw things I didn’t recognize

They made me wonder

What kind of spell I was under

But God brought everything to light

That was a beautiful sight

I finally found my way

I express gratitude every day

I learned many lessons

They turned into confessions

The lessons travel with me

They’re truly meant to be

I’ll never be the same

The world knows my name

I’ve given up old things

I see the joy that brings

God brought me through

I have more to do

There’s no more resistance

To the end of innocence

Golden

Woke up with the sun in my face

So glad I’m in a safe space

I said a prayer

Thanked God for being there

He sent me on my way

I smiled the entire day

Naysayers I ignored

My dreams I explored

And they began to reveal

What my heart couldn’t conceal

I took my blessing

Without a lot of stressing

It was about the purpose

I saw rise to the surface

I felt a love

Like heaven above

I took my stance

Did a victory dance

And was glad to know

How I could grow

Tender moments were found

I was on solid ground

I wasn’t beholden

Every moment was golden

Summer Rain

We walked in the summer rain

Cause we knew what we’d gain

The love was real

Something we couldn’t conceal

We took our stance

Before doing a lover’s dance

We didn’t have a care

We had so much to share

The rain continued to fall

But we knew all in all

It was meant to be

God’s plan we could see

We embraced the time

Cause we were in our prime

We were on solid ground

We knew what we found

We kept going

All while knowing

One thing to be true

And what God can do

Love we can gain

The depth of my soul

Is grateful and whole

It embraces God’s way

It prays every day

My soul sings

It sees joy in the wings

And right or wrong

It remains strong

The depth of my soul

Carries no fear or doubt

I know what I’m about

My soul’s on a journey

Meant for me only

My soul spreads love

Just like heaven above

As it sees purpose

Rising to the surface

The depth of my soul

Is easy to see

It’s the very heart of me

It laughs and cries

It’s intelligent and wise

It sees all

It answers God’s call

And at it’s core

It does so much more

Yes, it’s whole
